Pre-conference Workshop
The pre-conference workshop on critical realism is usually held over two-three full days, immediately prior to the conference.
The purpose of this workshop is to provide a basic introduction to the various phases of critical realism – first wave, dialectical, and meta-reality – to those new to it or who otherwise desire a refresher. This is primarily achieved through lectures, question & answer, and discussion sessions. Students are also offered an opportunity to present their work in progress for feedback. For graduate students, it is an opportunity to meet peers and develop international and supportive networks of other developing critical realists. For people new to critical realism and IACR conferences, it is also an opportunity to go into the meeting with some acquaintances.
This year's pre-conference workshop will take place on
July 27- July 29, 2026
