About IACR

The highly ranked Journal of Critical Realism (JCR) is the journal of the IACR. It was established in 1997 to foster the discussion, propagation and development of critical realist approaches to understanding and changing the world. Membership  of the IACR, includes a subscription to the Journal of Critical Realism and online access to the entire back catalogue of issues.

IACR facilitates an annual conference (within Europe and other parts of the world) for which members receive substantial discounts on registrations. To support the development of critical realism, IACR organises a pre-conference program for postgraduate students and those new to critical realism. The workshop comprises a series of lectures and other mentoring and networking activities. IACR organises or helps publicise other lectures, seminars, workshops, summer schools and related events concerned with realist philosophy and social theory.

The association maintains a mailing list for occasional newsletters on the IACR conference, other events and news. Join up below.

The Cheryl Frank Memorial Prize is awarded annually by IACR for a book that constitutes, motivates or exemplifies the best and/or most innovative new writing in or about the tradition of critical realism in the previous year.
